The Surfcoast Engineer Pty Ltd is a specialised engineering consultancy based in Victoria, providing expert services in vehicle modification, engineering design, fabrication and forensic investigation. 

Our Director, Jon McGowan, is a lifelong engineer with extensive experience across automotive, aeronautical, and civil disciplines. Jon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of London (City) and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University.

His professional career began with Roush, LandRover, Jaguar and Ford of Britain, before relocating to Australia to join Ford Australia as a Development Engineer.

In addition to his academic qualifications, Jon holds multiple trade certifications, including Boilermaker/Welder and Automotive Mechanic qualifications, along with a High Risk Work Licence for Dogging and Rigging.

As a licenced professional engineer and expert witness, Jon has provided technical assessments and professional opinions for WorkSafe investigations, machinery failures and personal injury cases arising from failures arising from unsafe work practices. As a qualified Civil Engineer and former Health and Safety Representative (HSR) he is frequently engaged to provide expert consulting services for injuries sustained on construction sites and workplaces.
